Cherokee Voices: Celebrating 20 Years, Across the Generations

On Saturday, June 10, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, the Cherokee Voices Festival will take place at The Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, NC. Veteran’s Day Celebration on November 11 Concludes the Charles George Memorial Project

Private First Class Charles George, a Cherokee native, saved the lives of five fellow soldiers during the Korean War. His courageous sacrifice will endure throughout the ages. And so will the remarkable story of the Charles George Memorial Project, which began in June 2015 and will conclude with the unveiling of a bronze bust at the Veterans Celebration in Cherokee, NC, on November 11, 2017.

Cherokee Heritage Day at Cherokee Museum Celebrates Hunter Moon

On the second Saturday of every month, the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, NC, hosts Heritage Day. The next Heritage Day is set for Saturday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free and open to all ages, all activities will celebrate the Cherokee month of Nvdadegwa, known as the “Hunter’s Moon.” This event is sponsored by the Museum and the North Carolina Arts Council, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
